Running, Running, Ran?

After a stellar year of running in 2011 (4 5k races, and a even one win!), I haven’t found my running mojo yet in 2012.

Some days I think I’ll want to run, and will even lace up my sneakers or bring my running gear with me to work (perk of working on a college campus – free gym access!), but I haven’t ‘felt it’ yet.

With teaching 5 Zumba classes per week, starting a new yoga practice, going to power half hour, and strength training, I’m obviously keeping active. {stay tuned for an upcoming post on finding fitness balance!} But I miss running.

I love running — the way it makes me feel, the great accomplishment of pushing myself just one more mile, or increasing my speed.

So, what’s a girl to do? Sign up for a race, obviously!

I’m beyond excited for this race, for multiple reasons
1) It’s going to encourage me to get my run on
2) It’s a destination race — in Arlington, VA
3) Shane is going to run it with me!!!!
This will be Shane’s first race ever. He’s an avid runner, running several times per week, and even long distances just because ‘he feels like it.’ He hasn’t signed up for a race before because he thinks he’ll get addicted. ha! He will. But at least this way we can run together.
“Love the Run You’re With” is a special race, too, because it takes place the weekend before Valentine’s Day. Talk about making super special {and active!} Valentine’s Day plans with your Love!
Can’t wait to lace up those running sneakers and prep for this 5k.

I’m currently training for my first 1/2 marathon! My main motivation is weight loss, but I do honestly love running and look forward to it most days. It just improves my life in so many ways that I can’t imagine stopping- I started C25K in the fall of 2010 and haven’t quit since!

PS- Shane will totally be addicted. And it’s not the cheapest hobby, but that’s when you plan out a race schedule and pick the good ones 🙂

      A half marathon? That’s awesome!!!

Yes — I’ll agree that it can be an expensive hobby. I’d love to go nuts, though, and plan to run a race somewhere far away, like CA. Wouldn’t that be fun?
