Coffee Talk Tuesday #60

Grab your cup! It’s time for Coffee Talk Tuesday.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we’re on Day 2 of the new Planks & Positivity Challenge! There’s plenty of time to join the fun. This is a free group and anyone can join! Here’s how it works: I’ll share a plank challenge/style of the day, you do it, and report back that it has been completed! If you have a fun style or variation that you tried, please share that, too. In addition to planks, I’ve added a twist — we have a positive prompt each day. Today, for example, is the day to share a positive quote. I love being inspired by words! Come join the fun.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I finally got a standing desk! When I moved offices, I got rid of my large, clunky, wooden desk (it didn’t fit) and purchased a small desk from Target. I find myself up and moving around quite a bit, and standing feels better to me. So, enter standing desk! This is a small desk, perfect for my office cove. I’m loving it so far!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I had a small accomplishment at the gym yesterday – I went up in my base weight for my BBG program! I’ve been playing with heavier weights, but it would always be for the last set or half of a set. Now, I’m rocking the heavier weights for all 4 sets! It’s pretty amazing what you can train the body to do. Sore feels good today.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we had a beach day on Sunday! We live so close to the Delaware beaches, and after our spontaneous beach day a few weeks ago, we definitely wanted more! It’s awesome how easy it is to get to the beach for a day. I’m sure we’ll go again before the end of summer.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that the sweetest thing happened last week. I had a new participant in the Thursday PiYo class and after, he told me “THANK YOU. This is just what I needed and what I’ve been looking for.” This is the moment that all fitness instructors love — when participants find what they need thanks to something you offer. We all love to feel needed and appreciated! I absolutely love when I get to share my passion for fitness and wellness with others, and when it makes a difference. I really appreciate hearing that it’s working for you. And if it’s not? That’s ok, too! I definitely see people come and go from classes. Please also note that I’m here to talk about your fitness goals — even if it doesn’t involve coming to my classes. I love this stuff so much and I want others to enjoy it as much as I do.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m putting the final touches on my pre-orientation program which happens in 18 days! I can’t wait to meet my group and take them on all sorts of fitness and wellness adventures.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that this post by my fitspiration lady Kayla Itsines hit me so hard this week:

“I was scared, I will admit, to celebrate myself and my body. I felt like people would call me arrogant or get offended that I was proud…. but at the end of the day, I learnt that no matter what you do, not everyone is going to like you… so do what YOU want to do that makes you happy, and the right people will come into your life! For the ladies who get up and hustle one way or another everyday, be PROUD OF YOURSELF BOSS LADY …. we got this”

I love her vibe and energy, and definitely have felt this way, too. I am used to feeling ashamed to share my personal accomplishments, but you know what? It’s pretty awesome what the body can do, and if sharing it makes me proud and maybe helps one other person, it’s totally worth it. I figure that anyone who doesn’t want to see my progress updates will simply unfollow and move on with their lives. Right?!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that the gap in my fitness class schedule between seasons leaves me with nearly 10 days of ‘open’ time. I’m excited to take a few classes that I’m not normally able to attend. You better believe it’s going to be lots of yoga and Buti happening!
